Pride and Prejudice (& Tour) (2016)

2 September – 25 February

By Jane Austen
In an adaptation by Simon Reade

Pride and Prejudice returned to the Open Air Theatre (2 - 17 September 2016) following a sell-out run in 2013, and featured the Olivier Award-winner Matthew Kelly (Of Mice and Men, Educating Rita, Waiting for Godot) and Felicity Montagu (Alan Partridge, Bridget Jones’s Diary, The Durrells) as Mr and Mrs Bennet. Celebrating the legacy of Jane Austen as we approached her bicentennial, the production toured the UK (21 September 2016 - 25 February 2017).

“Simon Reade’s adaptation discharges a quiverful of Austen’s most astringent observations and sketches in the essential contours of the smoulderingly rational central love story with sufficient clarity and grace to put a slightly goofy smile on even the severest spectator’s face”

Observer

In “Simon Reade’s SPARKLING new stage version…it’s Austen, still DAZZLING after 200 years”

The Times

"The MAGNIFICENT Felicity Montagu rules the stage as an anxiously energised Mrs Bennet."

“ELEGANT, AMUSING and HEARTFELT... the cast is immaculate from Tafline Steen as Elizabeth Bennet to Benjamin Dilloway as a perfect Mr Darcy. Whether you’re a Jane Austen fan or not, THIS IS A REAL TREAT.”
