Sir Philip Ben Greet
Sir Philip Ben Greet was a Shakespearean actor, director, and impresario. During his time as Manager of the Old Vic Theatre (1915-1918), Greet presented 33 Shakespearean productions with the focus of changing children’s experience of Shakespeare – work that would later see him knighted by King George V in 1929. He was the Master of Greensward for the 1934 production of As You Like It and Friar Laurence in the 1934 production of Romeo and Juliet, both directed by Sydney Carroll.
