Judi Dench
Dame Judi Dench is a multi award winning British actress, who has developed a reputation as one of the greatest actresses of the post-war period. She has appeared in classical plays, musicals and modern works both on Broadway and in London's West End.
Judi’s long association with the Open Air Theatre has seen see her both perform and direct on many occasions, including directing The Boys of Syracuse in 1991, which won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival.
Judi first performed at the theatre in 1976 when she read pieces in a weeklong celebration of William Shakespeare in Sweet Mr. Shakespeare. She returned in the 1993 season to direct Romeo and Juliet, and voiced the giant in Into the Woods in 2010.
Judi Dench was a Board Member of the theatre (1993-2015), and is now Patron of the Open Air Theatre.
