Rachel Kavanaugh directed this 2006 production of The Taming of the Shrew, which featured Sheridan Smith as Bianca and Sirine Saba as Katherina. Kavanaugh decided to set the production in the late 1930s/early 1940s, as well as to cut the framing story about Christopher Sly as a means of emphasising that Katherina and Petruchio really do fall in love.
