Richard III (1995)
By William Shakespeare
Having only been performed two times before at the Open Air Theatre, the 1995 season opened with a chilling Richard III. The lead, Jasper Britton, described the show as 'brutal, violent, shocking and sexy'. Director Brian Cox made his directorial debut at the theatre; a shortened version, compelling acting and brooding weather came together to produce one of the most memorable productions in our history.
