To Kill A Mockingbird Barbican (2015)
24 June – 25 July
Adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel
Based on the novel by Harper Lee
Acclaimed as ‘dramatic gold’ by The Times and starring Robert Sean Leonard, this enthralling stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel returned to London in 2015, following two sell-out seasons at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.
Capturing the warmth, poignancy and emotional depth of Lee’s 20th-century classic – a universal story about the corruption of innocence – the award-winning revival completed a UK tour with a month-long residency at the Barbican, with popular American screen and stage actor Leonard reprising the role of Finch.

Reviews
The Times
“Terrific retelling of Harper Lee’s classic makes DRAMATIC GOLD…Robert Sean Leonard is a marvel of restraint, conveying not showy heroism but weary, doubtful fragility…”
Daily Express
“MAGNIFICENT… Some productions have the power effortlessly to win you over and this enchanting heartfelt adaptation…is one of them.”
The Scotsman
"Tears, cheers and a completely spontaneous standing ovation. It only takes a few moments in Timothy Sheader’s beautiful, inventive production, for this fine 16-strong company – including three alternating teams of spellbindingly powerful child actors – to demonstrate why this terrific story…occupies such a special place in the heart and minds of readers."
Daily Telegraph
“If you have tears, prepare to shed them…a production of tremendous heart and emotional depth. Robert Sean Leonard, deftly captures the character’s wisdom, kindness, dry wit and underlying melancholy.”
Guardian
“if one measure of a stage adaptation's success is that it sends you scurrying back to read the original novel, then this production scores highly.”
Sunday Express
“Timothy Sheader’s production … is A CLASSIC OF A CLASSIC; straightforward, dignified and totally gripping”
Time Out
“Robert Sean Leonard returns to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's RESONATING, RELEVANT and SUPERB production of Harper Lee's novel”
